Studio manager
A Berlin-based artist is seeking a full-time studio manager (m/f/d). The artist's practice involves developing experimental setups in which the body becomes an instrument of perception and understanding. Through the combination of sculpture, installation, performance, scientific methods and technological systems, her practice explores possible extensions of classical parameters in sculpture. In this way, she examines how people perceive reality and how the limits, uncertainties and ambivalences of knowledge are revealed in the process. Her works translate invisible processes into physically experiential situations, making orientation itself the subject of artistic experience.
ROLE You will lead and support our team in all organizational and administrative tasks. You will be responsible for maintaining and continuously optimizing office structures and processes, and you are eager to actively contribute to the studio’s further development. You possess excellent communication skills and, following a meeting with the artist, are able to effortlessly draft texts in German or English and independently prepare entire documents in accordance with specifications. You are a well-rounded individual with the drive and interest to continuously further your education.
RESPONSIBILITIES • You independently identify and prioritize tasks, distribute them efficiently within the team, and ensure they are completed on time • You enjoy writing, can conceptualize art in text, handle emails, contribute to publications, and submit grant applications • You manage projects and exhibitions • You share responsibility for creating budgets and monitoring them on an ongoing basis, as well as preparing invoices • You are responsible for the ongoing maintenance of the studio systems (local server, FileMaker [art database], press and image archive) • Communication with galleries, institutions, producers, suppliers, and the press
PROFILE• Fluent in German and English, with clear and efficient communication skills • At least three years of professional experience in a gallery, artist studio, or as an (office) manager in other fields. • Proficiency in common computer software such as Adobe Suite and Microsoft Office • Strong organizational skills with an eye for detail (systematic, structured, and meticulous approach) • Quick learner with a willingness to continuously develop your skills • Knowledge of invoicing, insurance, and contracts in general • Proactive planning, as well as the ability to handle tight deadlines and last-minute changes • Self-motivation to work independently and take initiative • Reliability and discretion • Interest in contemporary art • Driver’s license preferred
