Traineeship at A R T Communication | Media Relations, Communications, Social Media
ABOUT THE TRAINEESHIP:
The trainee will be engaged in A R T’s international public relations and strategic communications activities, gaining hands-on experience in press relations, media outreach, editorial development, and communications strategy. The trainee will contribute research, ideas, and practical support to internal initiatives and selected client accounts.
Working alongside the team, the trainee will support the day-to-day management of A R T’s international portfolio of clients across the fields of art, design + architecture, and hospitality brands. The trainee will gain practical experience in developing and executing international PR campaigns, building relationships with journalists and media partners, preparing press materials, coordinating media opportunities, and supporting ongoing account management.
Additionally, the trainee will learn to audit, update and manage A R T's website, Instagram and potentially other digital channels.
The scope of the traineeship is to develop and expand skills in public relations and cultural communications to ultimately join A R T as full-time member of staff.
Start Date / Timeframe: Fall 2026 / 6 months
Working hours: 32 hours per week, 4 days per week
KEY GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Duties can include but are not limited to the following:
PR + Communications
–Support the team in the planning and execution of communications campaigns for selected clients
–Support the development of brand positioning, communications strategies and key messaging for clients.
–Assist with the development of communications campaigns, including research, timelines, media targets and campaign materials.
–Support the day-to-day execution of campaigns and keep internal campaign documents and task lists up to date.
–Assist with drafting, formatting and issuing press releases and invitations through Mailchimp to relevant contacts within the media database.
–Support media relations by researching journalists, preparing targeted media lists and assisting with outreach and follow-ups.
–Liaise professionally with journalists and support international media campaigns by responding to requests, coordinating interviews and following up on potential coverage, where applicable.
–Assist with the analysis of media coverage, including researching circulation, readership, audience reach and other relevant media figures.
–Organize press materials across Dropbox and Google Drive.
–Help prepare for internal and client meetings by compiling supporting documents, coordinating calls, preparing agendas and updating meeting notes and follow-up actions.
–Collect, organize and archive digital and print press clippings for client reports.
–Collect quantitative and qualitative campaign data, including coverage results, audience reach and relevant media feedback.
–Research and update A R T’s media contacts database, with a focus on art, design, architecture, culture, lifestyle and travel press.
–Assist with A R T’s internal marketing and promotional activities, including social media, direct mail and company communications.
–Research prospective clients and relevant new business opportunities.
–Undertake additional responsibilities according to current projects and the trainee’s developing skills.
Digital + Social Media
–Update A R T’s website with company news, client features, press coverage and other relevant content.
–Research and suggest improvements to A R T’s digital channels, including the website, Instagram and other digital channels.
–Collect and organize quantitative and qualitative data relating to A R T’s digital performance, including reach, engagement and audience growth.
–Plan and manage A R T’s social media presence, including maintaining a content calendar and identifying relevant company and client news.
–Draft, prepare, publish and promote approved posts and stories including sourcing imagery and checking captions, credits and links.
–Undertake additional responsibilities according to current projects and the trainee’s developing skills.
Qualifications + Requirements
–Recent graduate with academic and/or initial professional experience in PR, communications, journalism, art, design, cultural management or a related field.
–Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, with the ability to write clear and professional correspondence.
–Knowledge of German and other European language is an advantage.
–Proactive, reliable and able to work independently while contributing to a small team.
–Strong interest in contemporary art and the wider cultural media landscape.
–Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple assignments and meet deadlines.
–Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Google Workspace.
–Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, particularly InDesign, is beneficial.
–Strong research skills
–Familiarity with Mailchimp, Dropbox, website content-management systems or social media platforms is an advantage.
