The Kunstverein für Mecklenburg und Vorpommern in Schwerin was founded in 2002 to establish a platform for contemporary art in the state capital of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern and beyond. The Kunstverein presents regional and (inter)national artistic positions in changing solo and group exhibitions as well as a discursive programme. The focal point is the promotion and mediation of young artists in the context of current artistic and socio-political discourses.

To strengthen our team in Schwerin, we are seeking, starting January 1, 2026 (or by agreement), a Freelance Head of Installation (m/f/d) on a part-time basis. Working closely with the Artistic and Administrative Directors as well as the Curator, the Head of Installation is primarily responsible for the implementation and production of the Kunstverein’s exhibitions and events. Manual skills and a careful, responsible approach to handling artworks are essential. The position can be carried out partly remotely but also requires on-site presence in Schwerin.

Responsibilities:
– Planning and technical implementation of exhibitions and events
(including installation, deinstallation, and possible modifications)
– Organization of an installation team (if applicable)
– Development of spatial and technical solutions for artistic projects
– Organization and coordination of transport and professional art handling/packing
– Procurement of materials and technical equipment
– Maintenance of the workshop and tool room
