neugerriemschneider is a Berlin-based gallery for contemporary art. Founded in 1994, the gallery operates across two locations in the city, hosting a diverse range of exhibitions with artists from our internationally active program. With the expertise of an experienced, specialized team, we take part in a selection of institutional-level presentations, events and major fairs throughout the year, valuing thoughtful presentations that promote our artists and their practices in considered, sustainable ways.

We are hiring a full-time
sales-team lead specialized in contemporary art

Responsibilities
As sales-team lead, you will guide your team in presenting works by a group of established contemporary artists to international collectors and institutions, support the gallerists in developing and implementing the gallery’s sales strategy, and use your network to successfully place works by the gallery’s artists.

Your role will primarily consist of the following tasks:
- Leading an international sales team whose members are both on-site and remote
- Working toward considered placement of works by our artists in leading collections
- Representing the gallery at art fairs and openings
- Initiating sales development and expanding these strategies with the gallerists
- Growing the gallery’s list of art-market contacts and maintaining existing relationships
- Fielding inquiries from institutions and collectors, and drafting offers accordingly
- Managing the administrative and organizational aspects of sales, in collaboration with others in the gallery

About you

You are someone who:
- Has considerable experience working at internationally operating galleries, dealing directly with artwork, leading a sales team and strategically developing sales
- Is highly motivated, enthusiastic about art, empathetic, communicative and supportive, enabling you and your team to place artworks in close collaboration with the gallerists
- Identifies with neugerriemschneider’s operational and artistic philosophies, and possesses a vast knowledge of art history
- Lives in Berlin or intends to move to Berlin, with flexibility for frequent travel
- Appreciates working in a team setting
- Is confident with Mac programs and databases (Artlogic)
- Reads and writes in German and English (additional languages are a plus)
