Studio Manager: Marianna Simnett Studio

The internationally renowned artist Marianna Simnett seeks a motivated and organised Studio Manager to lead the artist’s studio in Berlin.

The Studio Manager is responsible for overseeing and ensuring the studio’s smooth functioning on a daily basis. The successful candidate will feel confident serving as a liaison between the studio and galleries, curators, institutions and fabricators. They are deeply involved in every phase of an artwork’s creation, from its conceptual development to its exhibition.

The position is four days per week, with a starting date in July/August 2023.

Duties include but are not limited to:

Managing a small studio team, keeping studio organised and on task
Serving as the studio's main point of contact; liaising with gallery, curators, institutions and fabricators
Drawing up project budgets, closely monitoring real-time expenditure
Conducting research on conceptual themes of planned projects
Drafting and editing texts (project proposals, work synopses, biographies, etc.)
Contracting freelancers for production of artworks, closely following the status of their work
Conceiving and drafting content for social media and Patreon
Archiving images and documents, updating studio inventory
Conceiving and organising production of items for online shop
Researching and applying for funding opportunities
Identifying and implementing areas for growth of studio team

Requirements:
Excellent management skills
Ability to work independently in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
Capable of multitasking and overseeing multiple projects at once
Highly organised and adept at problem solving
Skilled communicator
At least three years of experience working in artist studios, galleries, running small businesses in a managerial role
Fluent English
Familiarity with Photoshop, InDesign, Excel

Additional Useful Skills:
Knowledge of Premiere and other Adobe Suite programs
Driving licence class B
German language skills level B1 or higher
Experience handling artworks
