PROJECT DEVELOPMENT MANAGER

To help achieve our ambitious cultural wellbeing mission, we are now seeking a Project Development Manager to manage our wellbeing commissions, urban research projects and mental health programming.

Outline of Duties:

As part of the Commissions and Urban Development team, The Project Development Manager is responsible for managing and coordinating tasks activities critical to realizing temporary and permanent wellbeing commissions. Working closely with artists, architects, galleries, public and private partners, and contractors to conceptualise, develop, and execute commissions, projects, and productions. This position reports to the department heads and works collaboratively with members of Therme Art’s curatorial, communications, collection, finance, and development teams to support all essential department activities and institutional initiatives.

Tasks:

• Research artists, architects, designers and their practices, as well as project contexts, history, track records and reference projects
• Work with the team on concept development and strategies for various projects
• Project manage events and activations including scheduling, timelines, budgets, travel, and external communication in coordination with the team.
• Liaise and communicate with the commissioned artist / architect / external consultants with concept development, providing support as required.
• Assist in and execute presentations, concept drafts, business plans, time schedules and organizational charts
• Draw up and negotiate project and commission contracts, term sheets and letters of intent.
• Develop and track project schedules to ensure deadlines are met.
• Additional duties as requested by the team.

Qualifications:

The Project Development Manager will possess an unparalleled work ethic with a high sense of urgency and the ability to work to tight deadlines. They will have a deep interest in current issues around culture, wellbeing and sustainability. They will also hold:

• Bachelor’s degree in related area of study (e.g. visual arts, project management, construction management, architecture, design, business administration etc.)
• Minimum of three to five (3 - 5) years professional experience in cultural project management, exhibition organization, or other relevant experience in the field
• Excellent research, written and verbal communication skills in one or several of the following fields: culture, art, architecture, design, philosophy, science and technology
• Experience working with artists, architects, developers, scientists, consultants, or lawyers; knowledge of and strong personal interest in art, culture, wellbeing and sustainability
• Strong organizational skills and capability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously to meet deadlines
• Excellent attention to detail, creative thinker, and ability to problem solve
• Competency with Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Creative Suite (especially InDesign) and project management tools
• A fluent level in English; German is a plus.
